Blog Tour and Giveaway: Return to Poughkeepsie by Debra Anastasia

Synopsis:

Beckett Taylor is a murderer. His calling, his craft are destruction and intimidation—whether he wants it that way now or not. He left Poughkeepsie to keep his brothers safe, to keep Eve safe. Set up with happy lives to live, they’re better off without him, right?

But all his willpower crumbles when he hears his brother Blake’s frantic voice on the phone. An unknown enemy has moved in on his old territory, and Livia’s been taken. In an instant, Beckett knows it will take an attack only he and Eve can execute to bring her back. All his self-imposed embargoes are torn to shreds, perhaps along with the new man he’s struggled to become.

“Brother, call Eve. I’ll be there soon.”

In this emotional and action-packed sequel to Poughkeepsie, Debra Anastasia conjures a tale of love at its most raw and ragged. With Beckett and Eve, how could we expect anything less? But even when it’s messy, not magical, true love perseveres. Real love finds a way—for better or for worse until death does part.

Debra Anastasia is busy, just like every other mom. There's dinner, the dogs, the two kids, the two kids, and her ongoing battle with...ahem... digestive issues, which combined with her adolescent boy sense of humor makes for colorful and sometimes cringe-worthy social media updates. Her first love and crowning achievement is her thriving career as the weirdest mom on the block.
Her writing started a decent handful of years ago when--along with the animals and humans in her house--the voices of characters started whispering stories in Debra's ear. Insomnia was the gateway to plots that wouldn't give up, wouldn't let go. Now they stalk her everywhere. Halfway through making lunches, a twist takes hold and--fingers full of peanut butter--she finds somewhere, anywhere to write it down.
She's eternally grateful to Omnific Publishing, which has now published four of her books: two in the Seraphim Series and two in the Poughkeepsie Brotherhood Series, as well as her novella, Late Night with Andres. That one is special because 100% of the proceeds go to breast cancer research. (So go get it right now, please!) She also very much appreciates her open-minded readers, who embrace everything she has to offer, with a focus on anti-heroes and bathroom humor.
Debra lives in Maryland with her family. You can find her at DebraAnastasia.com and on Twitter @Debra_Anastasia. But be prepared.

Nicky's Review

3 Stars

Characters- They were very dynamic in nature, each being very different, which gave the story interesting interactions and dialogue.
Plot/Storyline- Story was good. It had the broken girl, the broken guy, the interfering ex, some fun friends and other supporting characters (family members) that made for a whole story that came together nicely.
Steam Factor- It is pretty steamy. The first interaction between Holden and Dani had me saying, WTH am I getting into here, but damn that boy is sexy and sweet.
Cover- The cover is sweet and represents Holden, Dani and the ever famous Dock that holds so many memories. The only issue I have is that they are supposed to be in their late 20's early 30's and the models don't look that old. Also, Dani is supposed to be REALLY pretty!! Like bombshell, every one at school wanted her pretty and the cover model is cute, but she isn't Dani pretty. If that makes sense...
Cliffhanger- Nope. This is a standalone with a HEA. A very sweet HEA :)
Overall- I enjoyed this book about discovering what real love is after thinking you've had it once but the real thing proves the past love to be a stepping stone to the real thing. It's also a story of letting go of the past, finding happiness in the now and taking on the future with the love of your life.

This is the story of a girl, Dani, who returns to her home town due to deep regret and guilt after her father dies.  She takes on everyone's problems because she feels that if she hadn't left town things would have been different.  This entire book is about Dani finding herself, forgiving herself and others, and realizing that she is not to blame for the way life panned out for anyone.

Dani is a sexy spitfire of a girl and she is presented as a girl who can "hold her own."  She had a serious boyfriend named Gage in high school.  They were supposed to follow each other to college but due to personal circumstances Gage has to stay near his hometown for college while Dani decides to take the opportunity to escape her small town life and go to college away from home. This breaks Gages heart and rips their relationship apart.

After Dani's father dies 10 years since she left home she returns home to be there for her mom.  With her mom comes the  half siblings, Brandy and Billy, who reside with her mother. They are leaches and druggies.  Billy doesn't really play much of a role in the book, but Brandy plays a main source of drama, hatred, and arguments. Dani has conflicts with her throughout the book. Another character that plays a major role in Dani's life is Gage. He is still in love with Dani and keeps trying to get back into her life, despite Dani constantly being completely open to Gage in that she wants only friendship from him.  But I guess the heart wants what the heart wants even if the one you want to give your heart to keeps placing a return to sender stamp on it.

I really felt for Gage. He is really sweet and head over heels in love with Dani.  Some things you discover about Gage makes you a little upset with him and a little disappointed, but even at the end of the book, my heart still hurt for him.  He deserves happiness. He has dealt with a lot in his life and I can totally see (not agree with by any means) why he made the decisions he made.  He not only dealt with his own issues, he also had the pain of losing the light in his life, Dani.

Dani's heart loves Gage, but in a total platonic way.  Her heart finds a home with the sexy piece of man that is Holden.  Holden is super sweet and super sexy.  Their first meeting/interactions was jaw dropping.  At first I wanted to put Holden in the "Douche" category, but he definitely won me over and his reasons for his actions made me forgive his past discretions. His character was so well written as a man worthy of Dani that I felt bad for Gage, but I definitely wanted Dani to chose Holden.

Dani and Holden find love and healing through each other and they are completely honest with each other about everything.  This is where I am truly grateful to Erika Ashby. Nothing loses my interest more than two main characters who keep hiding stuff from each other. Its frustrating and annoying, but this book didn't have any of that between Dani and Holden. It was very nice to read.

The only gripe I had with this book was when Dani and Holden would have a moment of honesty or a cathartic opening up moment. I say this because the dialogue was very stiff, like they prepared a speech and there was no feeling in the words.  They were just getting the information out for the purpose of the story and lacked the organic quality that allows me to connect with the characters and their connection. It was a bit disappointing and truly affected my feelings towards the story, making it a 3 star rating for me.

I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to read about a badass girl, who is also fragile, finding healing & friendship and discovering love in the arms of a man who adores and loves her for who she is even though she herself isn't sure of who she is.  The ending is so sweet and spread happy warmth through me.  I love HEA endings and this book provides it very well. So to Erika Ashby, I say, "Well done girlie!! I will look forward to reading more from you. XOXO."

Cover Reveal: One Ride (A Hellions Novel) by Chelsea Camaron

Genre: Erotica
Publication Date: January 2014

Synopsis:

Delilah “Doll” Reklinger never imagined her life with anyone that wasn’t a Hellion. She never imagined a Hellion would come along and prove himself worthy enough to her father, Roundman, Hellions Club President. Content in living in the bubble of safety the motorcycle club family has always provided, Doll never thought that danger surrounded her.

Roundman has kept the Hellions contained for the last thirty years by controlling the chaos surrounding their lifestyle. When the dangerous side to their business comes knocking on his door, he realizes his precious Doll isn’t safe. The Hellions code may be that women and children are off limits in any altercation or dispute, but that doesn’t mean their enemies follow that same moral compass.

His only child, now in danger from the association to him and his club, Roundman makes a decision. He sends her away to a charter club, in hopes that the trouble won’t follow.

One ride across the country. One simple ride. Talon “Tripp” Crews has been ordered to take Doll on one ride away and to keep her safe. She’s off limits, his head knows this, but his body can’t deny the sparks between them. She’s feisty, fierce, and fearless. Constantly in close confines together, can they deny the chemistry? Will they give into the attraction between them? Can one ride turn lust into love?

*Warning mature content ahead- this scene is explicit so only post if your blog is set for adult content please*

A few beers later, Tank and I are playing pool in the back corner room. Three women come over to our game. For a bit they watch and giggle to each other. One is a bottle blonde, short only five foot, one or two. She’s wearing a black mini skirt that barely covers her ass, a navy blue halter top that her boobs are screaming to be let loose from, topped off with those fuck me heels that women love to wear and men love to feel digging into their backsides. The other two have dark hair, one is taller, maybe five eight or nine, the shorter one closer to the blonde’s height. The taller broad, is in a little black strapless number that she clearly doesn’t realize one ass cheek is already hanging out of. The shorter one, obviously more reserved than the other two, is in jeans and a fitted shirt. She walks away, returning to wherever they came from.

The blonde approaches me, with a smile that says seduction. She licks her lips as she trails her finger over my cut. Stopping, she breathes into my ear.

“I have a pocket you can sink into, biker.” She whispers.

“Is that so?” I reply, looking over at Tank. Her taller friend has now approached him and is mauling his face in what I believe to be extremely drunk kisses. I watch as Tank wraps his hand in her hair. Tightly, he pulls back on her, to slow her pace. He’s taking control, and soon going to take what he wants. Returning my attention back to the bar fly beside me, I move so she’s pinned between me and the pool table.

Taking the hint, she pulls me up against her. I lean down, she thinks I’m going to kiss her, but instead I whisper, as I breathe heavily on her neck.

“Darlin’, are you sure? Be ready, I’m going to fuck you hard, fast, and rough. Right here, in front of your friend, my brother, and whoever decides to walk in. Once I start, I’m not going to stop. Say no now, and walk the fuck away. Otherwise, take your panties off and stick them in my pocket. Then turn around and bend your ass over the pool table bitch.”

Without hesitating, her panties are now in my pocket. Pulling her skirt over her waist, her bare ass is now shaking in front of me. Getting a condom out, I unbutton my jeans and stroke my dick. As I’m getting hard, I look over to see Tank is already working his girl over. Her legs are wrapped around his waist, arms around his neck, and her head back as she’s moaning in ecstasy. Damn, they were quick to get to it.

Reaching around her front with my right hand, I slide up her thigh. At her juncture, I slowly tease her pussy lips with my fingers. Spreading them apart, I circle her clit as she rocks back on to me, seeking more. I increase the pressure and the pace on her clit. My dick is hard and pressing against her ass. She looks over her shoulder, down at my dick. Seeing the silver jewelry at the tip, she smiles.

“Fuck me, biker. Take that big, pierced cock and fuck my ass.”

If that’s what the hell the slut wants, who the hell am I to say no? The bitch wants it rough, fine. She’ll feel this shit for days. I push her head down onto the pool table. Removing my hand from her clit, I roll the condom on. I kick her legs further apart. Taking a few moments to finger her pussy, I use her own juices to start inserting my finger in her ass. Once she adjusts to the first finger, I add a second. With my other hand, I’m rubbing the head of my penis against her clit, letting the piercing apply that added sensation. She’s now rocking back rhythmically on three fingers. I remove my fingers and slowly insert the tip of my cock. I give her body a moment to adjust to my girth, as I inch in further. She’s tiny and there is no way I’ll be balls deep without hurting her. Her ass is tight and the lube from the condom isn’t enough. Once I’m inside her a good bit, I reach around with my left hand and massage her breast at the same time I begin rubbing circles on her clit. I tease the entrance to her pussy with my fingers. As I do, she rocks back engulfing my dick in her ass. It’s warm, soft, and so tight. I insert two fingers inside her pussy as I pinch her nipple. She rocks against me as I begin pumping both my dick and my fingers in and out of her. She’s clinching around me as her orgasm is building.

“Oh, oh, oh…yes…I’m coming.” She screams out so loud Tank and his play thing stop fucking to turn and watch us.

As she’s going through the aftershocks of her orgasm, she starts to raise her head up. I push it back down, as remove my hand from her pussy and my dick from her ass.

“I’m not finished yet. Bitch, stay put.” I say as I hold her down onto the pool table.

Fast and hard, I thrust my dick in her pussy now. I set a quick, intense pace, ready to get off and move on. Within a few hard thrusts, I allow my mind a moment of wondering, imagining the face of a doll, I come in the condom. Finishing, I pull out. Removing the condom, I tie off the top, and toss it in the trash can in the room. Adjusting myself, I zip up my pants. Looking over, I see Tank is finished as well. His girl already sporting a pouty face as mine is still bent over the pool table like she doesn’t know what just happened.

Deciding I am done for the night, I grab my beer, nod to Tank that it’s time to go. He follows me out of the room, leaving the two bar flies behind. They both call out to us. Rather than turn around and acknowledge them, I flip my middle finger over my head at them as we make our way by the bar towards the exit door.

Tripp

Kissing Doll was a mistake. Shaking off the thoughts of her body molding to mine, I focus. Knowing the fuckers are following us, I’ve got to keep my shit straight. The downfall to being followed while you’re on a bike, it’s hard to watch the bastards following you without making it obvious. Bike mirrors are small and full of blind spots anything more than a car length away. It’s a game of where the hell’s Waldo. I never have liked games.

Peek-a- mother- fuckin’- boo. I see you Cadillac SVT. Same bastards from before, they have no idea who they’re fucking with. Extending my left arm out straight, palm flat to the ground, I make a slight up and down motion to let Rex know to slow down and back off a little. Turning my hand, I single three fingers then four. Throwing my arm up, bending at the elbow to a ninety degree angle while balling my fist, then with my index finger only extending I make a circle motion. Rex knows in three quarters of a mile, I’ll make a hard right exit, no signal. He’s to keep going, let the caddy follow me, while he gets Sass to send the text to the boys to circle around, and back my ass up.

Pulling off, sure enough, the car follows. Hopefully, they took the bait thinking we were riding the two of us and only sent one car to tail. My boys have been following a half hour or so behind us the entire ride making sure to stay out of sight. If there are too many of them, we’re fucked. I’ll do anything before they get Doll though.

We’re on a two lane road that makes a loop. I feel the vibration of my phone cueing me that Rex and crew are heading to the gas station. Officially in BFE (Bum Fuck, Egypt) I pull into the seedy gas station. As soon as Doll realizes Rex doesn’t follow the turn off, she holds on tighter. I drop my left hand to squeeze her thigh reassuringly. Hang tight until the cavalry arrives. None of these fuckers are gonna get to her to use as a pawn in some sick game. Not one hair on that pretty little head will be touched as long as I’m fucking breathing.

Pulling in, Doll climbs off. Before I climb off, I grab her hand and swing her to me, snaking my hand around the back of her neck, I pull her in for a kiss. Raw, rough, and real passion flow freely between us as the kiss becomes a tangle of tongues, lips, and teeth. When I pull away, her eyes are glassed over in desire.

“Stay close, and follow my lead, Doll.” I whisper to her before kissing her forehead and releasing her.

Climbing off the bike, I remove my helmet. Storing both our helmets on the bike, I make a point not to touch any of the saddlebags. Knowing we’re being watched, I need to make this believable. They may or may not know the real purposes behind this trip. If Delatorre hasn’t been taken down yet, they will want Doll to keep him breathing. If Delatorre has been handled, this could be retaliation. Either way Doll is their target. Time to keep up appearances I smile at Doll to ease her fears.

Walking up behind Doll, I wrap my arms loosely around her waist. Turning her, I keep my body between her and the car. Dropping my head, I lightly bite at the sweet spot where her neck and shoulder meet. She softens beneath me. Running my nose up her neck as I inhale her scent, reaching her ear, I whisper to her.

“Stay close, do exactly as I say, we’ve been followed.” She nods her head in agreement. “At the bathroom door, I’m going to kiss you. When I do, my body will be blocking their vision. You need to reach in the waist band of my jeans and grab the pistol and tuck it into your jeans. Then you go in the bathroom and lock yourself inside a stall. You don’t come out until Sass arrives to get you. If anyone comes inside that isn’t me, Rex, or Sass, you shoot them. Hellions cut or not, shoot first ask questions later. My boys are coming for backup but they won’t come in here to get you, only me, Sass, or Rex. Got it?” I say, needing her to understand that these men could kill us and get a Hellions cut so she can only answer for people she can recognize.

Once again she nods. I feel her shudder beneath me. I begin pushing us forward, walking behind her, still wrapped around her. The embrace is close like lovers. Under other circumstances it would be intimate, but in this moment, it’s about her safety.

At the bathroom door, I lean down and kiss her wrapping my hands around her head. Adrenaline mixes with an unknown emotion as I sweep my tongue inside her mouth. I don’t want to ever stop kissing her, but right now I’ve got to get rid of our problem. I feel the gun being pulled away as she tucks it against her own waist. When she starts to pull away, I pull her head back to me. I kiss her with everything I have in me. If I die right now, I die a happy mother fucker to have shared my last kiss with this woman. Finally, I pull away.

“Be safe, Doll. Remember, no one, but me, Sass, or Rex.” I kiss her forehead as I release her. Pausing for a moment as I watch her disappear in the restroom, I can hear her lock the bathroom door.

Turning around, I’m greeted by none other than the same fucker from the truck stop.

“Don Juan Mother Fuckin’ Pablo. What can I do for you Chico?”

Doll

“Tripp, you son of a bitch, I’m not done talkin’ to you.” He stops on the spot, but doesn’t turn around. Rex and Sass are standing still by their bike watching everything as it continues to unfold. He’s making no attempt to acknowledge me. Frustration running high, I march up behind him. I poke him in the shoulder, in an attempt to get him to turn around. When that fails, I jab my finger into the top of his shoulder. Still, nothing. Walking around to face him, I’m met with a mixture of laughter and lust in his eyes. He’s enjoying this, the fucker.

“You just fucking kissed me. I don’t even know your real damn name and you kissed me! You’ve insulted me, belittled me, taken me from my home to God knows where, and I don’t even know your fucking name!” I say jabbing my finger in his chest. Our eyes are now locked, battling each other in the stare downs of stare downs. My eyes are full of fury and his full of fun, maybe. Is this turning him on?

“If you’re running your mouth so I kiss you again, it ain’t gonna happen Doll. You’re wound up. You need to release the tension. How ‘bout we see if Jared can give you some ink?”

“You have lost your ever lovin’ fuckin’ mind if you think I’m going to let some friend of yours permanently mark my body. Again, I don’t even know your name. Yet, I’m supposed to trust some guy you know to tattoo me? Really? I may end up with Tripp tattooed on my ass.”

He laughs at me. Not the little ‘ha ha you’re so funny’ kind of laugh. No, Tripp folds over holding his stomach because he’s laughing so hard at me.

“What the fuck is so damn funny?”

Tripp stands up. The smile now gone from his face, replaced with his ever present serious glare, he looks directly at me.

“Get your ass inside. Shut the fuck up for two seconds so you can meet Jared.”

He walks off, heading for the front door. Sass is now beside me, as I stand here with a stupid look on my face.

“Come on, Doll. Let’s make the best of it. I’m game for new ink. You should get that tat you’ve been wanting with another damn bird. We’re stuck here until the guys have rested. Jared may be hot or have hot friends. You’re way too bitchy, loosen up some.”

“Sass, Delatorre had cameras in our house. How can I relax?”

“Fuck! He had what? Come on, let’s get inside and figure this shit out.” She says, taking me by the hand to the front door.

Walking inside we are surrounded by the designs on the red painted walls. Each intricate piece of work brings something new to life for someone. Hearing the buzzing of the tattoo gun in the back room, I’m immediately itching for a new tattoo. I have a sparrow on my right hip in memory of my mother and a robin on my wrist to represent the bond Sass and I share. Maybe Sass is right, and it’s time to get that tattoo I’ve been wanting on my left hip.

Tripp is leaning against the counter talking to a beautiful lady. She’s probably in her fifties, but time has treated her well. There’s vibrancy in her eyes as she’s chatting with Tripp, her face telling the story of a strong woman. We approach the counter.

“Doll, Sass, this is Momma C. And Momma C, you remember Rex. This is Doll and Sass.”

Introductions out of the way, I’m overwhelmed with a sense of comfort. Momma C gives me a feeling of home. Being around her reminds me of being with the ol’ ladies of the club. The level of nurturing and compassion that is held in the depths of Momma C’s eyes washes over me. I’m smiling and I’m comfortable here even with all the chaos surrounding my life. Tripp was right, I’m safe here. Even without meeting Jared it’s obvious Momma C will protect those around her.

A man with spikey hair, gaged ears, and full sleeved tattoos emerges from the back room. He’s followed by a man that walks over to Momma C pulling out his wallet, making it obvious he is a client. Immediately, the spikey hair man greets Tripp and Rex with that man half hug, back slap shit. When he’s done, he stares at me momentarily. He extends his hand. When I place my hand in his, he holds it.

“Name’s Delilah, but everyone calls me Doll. You must be Jared.” I say looking into his eyes. They tell the story of a strong man.

“Beautiful name for a beautiful woman. Tripp’s a lucky mother fucker.”

I laugh at his comment. “Tripp’s not my man.”

He pulls me into a hug and whispers in my ear, “With the death glare he’s giving me, I think he may disagree, Doll.” He kisses my cheek before releasing me.

He greets Sass quickly and escorts us to the back office area. The client is done paying, raises his hand in a slight salute wave in goodbye as he exits the building.

“Mom’s locking up. Here’s the key to the apartment upstairs. I’ll be here the whole time. No one will get to you without getting through me.” Jared informs us as he’s handing Tripp a key.

We go upstairs to the tiny apartment and settle in. Tripp’s in the shower. I update Sass on what I now know on Delatorre. Sass and I are restless, so we head back down to the tattoo shop. Finding Jared at a desk drawing, I smile at his focus. He seems like he’s good people, and maybe I shouldn’t have doubted Tripp. I need to learn to trust him.

“You need somethin’ Doll, Sass?” Jared asks looking up from his design to both of us.

“I’d like a new tattoo.”

“Sure thing, whatcha thinkin’ of getting?”

“I want an eagle on my left hip, stretching out in flight. Not overly big, but in its talon, I want it holding a very girly heart, not a lifelike heart, a feminine heart and a shield.”

He pauses, as a strange look comes across his face. “Doll, why do you want this specific tattoo?”

“An eagle represents the freedom of the motorcycle club world I live in. It’s talon holding my heart and a shield for protection. All my life I’ve been guarded and loved by all of the Hellions, not just my dad.”

“You’re sure you want an eagle and not the Hellions insignia?”

Irritation consumes me. Why is he questioning me? This is his job. I’ll pay for the damn tat. Cocking my hand on my hip, I glare at Jared. “It’s not my place to wear the insignia. Look, if you don’t want to do the tat that’s fine, just say so, enough with the bullshit.” Looking over at Sass for some sort of comfort as my frustration builds, she shrugs her shoulders like this is no big deal.

Hearing a noise behind me, I turn to see Tripp in the doorway. His hair down and wet. With his arms over his head gripping the door frame, and his jeans slung low on his hips, I can clearly see the toned ‘v’ of his lower abdomen peeking out from his shirt. The tattoos on his arms on display, as usual. Holy hell, he’s hot.

“What bullshit?” Tripp asks looking back and forth between Jared and me.

“Nothin’. I wanted ink, but Jared’s asking eighteen hundred questions like I’m trying to get married or some shit.”

“Hold the fuck up, princess. Tripp may be interested to know the exact tattoo you’re talkin’ about marking your body with.” Jared pipes up. Sass backs away from me, leaving me inching closer to Tripp.

“I wanted an eagle with an outstretched talon holding a heart and shield. It’s whatever now, you guys seem to know better. I’ll get my fucking ink elsewhere. I’m going to bed.” As I start to move to the doorway, Tripp moves his arms off the frame. Great, he’s going to block my exit. Then, I watch as he removes his shirt. The ink adorning his body is all on display. I see the tats of his forearms go all the way up his shoulders and he has a dragon that peeks on both sides, maybe it wraps across his back. What has my attention though, is the large eagle over his left shoulder blade is coming down with an extended talon holding a lifelike heart and a shield.

He says nothing, as his muscles twitch involuntarily. Before I can stop myself, I’m standing mere inches from him, as I reach out and slowly trace the details of the design. I start at the white of the eagles head, delicately I outline the bird. As I reach his talon, Tripp stiffens underneath me. He grabs my hand holding it to his heart, the very place the heart of the tattoo lands. He drops his head, our faces cheek to cheek. His hair has fallen down off his shoulder it tickles my face as his breathing sends chills down my spine as it hits my ear.

“My name is Talon Ward Crews. Talon is for an eagle’s talon as its tool and its weapon. Ward meaning guard and protector. The eagle guards and protects my heart.” He whispers to me.

Tripp

The thoughts of having her like this for my lifetime brings warmth deep inside of me. Today, I bring her back to my house. Tonight, I will have her in my bed. Tomorrow, I return her to her world. Tomorrow, I say goodbye to my lifeline. Tomorrow, I say goodbye to my heart because when I leave, I leave it with her. As much as it’s going to suck, I’m going to leave her. It’s going to crush me, but I’m going to walk away. The other thing Pop’s always said, “Don’t give your woman unnecessary pain.” My life would be unnecessary pain for Doll.

I have all of today, tonight, and tomorrow’s ride to make sure Doll knows she’s my treasure. Starting in this moment, when I gently rub the back of my hand against her face. Knowing she’s asleep, I share what’s on my mind.

Whispering to her, “You’re everything, Doll. You’re the good in me. When the days get long, you’ll be what pulls me through. I’m gonna let you go, but I’m always gonna carry you with me.” I watch her breathing.

No longer able to contain myself, I move to kiss her forehead. Rolling her over, I kiss her cheek, then her neck. She’s waking up under me. I take my time trailing kisses over her neck and collar bone. She reaches up, running her fingers through my hair. Our eyes meet. The words are on the tip of my tongue, but unable to come out. I see the love this woman has for me in the depths of those piercing blue eyes. Does she see what I feel for her? Does she see the man behind the bike? Rather than speak the words, I spend my morning making love to her body. Taking in every second of this and committing it to my memory in a way to last me a lifetime.

Tomorrow, she’ll be home. Tomorrow, our ride will end. Tomorrow, I’ll be man enough to walk away. We’re in too deep. I never should’ve let this happen, emotions and entanglements are things I don’t do. Today, I’ll give her all of me. Today, I’ll take everything I can. Today, I’ll let my weakness for her consume me.

Review: Precious Consequences by Tamsyn Bester

Synopsis
All it took was one night to change the rest of my life.
One night that created irrevocable consequences.
But some consequences aren’t all bad.
They can be amazing…beautiful… Precious.
I willingly accepted those consequences and wrote a new plan for my life. But that plan didn’t include Cameron Argent – the sexy-as-sin tattooed playboy who got under my skin the moment I laid eyes on him. I was headed down a dark and dangerous road where he was concerned and in the end, our relationship was inevitable. Despite our dark secrets, our feelings for each other burned brighter than a thousand stars and left us both naked, vulnerable.
But when my past came rolling back into my life like a Summer storm, I wasn’t sure if his love for me was enough. Was he prepared to deal with the consequences of a past I couldn’t regret or would he walk away with my beating heart in his hands?
(This is a New Adult Contemporary Romance novel & contains language &adult situations. Not recommended for readers younger than 17)

Nicky's Review

3 Stars
Characters- I really liked the main characters Hayley and Cameron. She was very sweet and I really respected her for the choices she made after the BIG change in her life. Cameron was super sexy and very sweet as the book went on.
Plot/Storyline- Story was good but there were a few moments that were sort of skimmed past and rushed through when they should have been earth shattering or at least more extensive.
Steam Factor- Cameron is super sexy in and out of bed! Love his swimmers physique and sexy tattoos :)
Cover- Cover honestly has me a little perplexed. The main character, Hayley, is supposed to have dark curly hair and bright green eyes... Who is this girl on the cover?
Cliffhanger- Nope. This is a standalone with a HEA :)
Overall- It was a very sweet book and I enjoyed it most of the time and could truly relate to Hayley when it came to her feelings towards Arianna, but life changing events that occur are sort of rushed through and resolved too quickly for my liking. I'll explain...

Let me start with the positives. Hayley is an amazing girl who had a great head on her shoulders for a 17 year old. I truly respect her decisions and the way she handles her situation. Her inner dialogue when it comes to Arianna is like the voice of many women in the world and is truly relatable.  I felt that I could have written some of the things she has said about Arianna. The story starts when she is 19 years old.

And then there's Cameron, the stereotypical tattooed, sexy as sin douche who sleeps around and throws girls out right after without a second look back.  He is very drool worthy, but this is where the story sort of falls into predictable territory. He's a douche one minute and then he turns around, sees Hayley for all of 5 seconds and then decides that she's the most beautiful thing that has ever graced his eyes. Her car is broken down and he approaches her, looks at her car, and then offers her a ride... Which she TAKES!!! Seriously?! A girl in her situation should hold her life at a higher priority than to take a ride from a stranger, but he's pretty so its ok... Right.... Anyway...

Hayley has a past history of being a slut in school and something is leaked that ruins her reputation in her Senior year of High School. This causes her parents to shun her and she goes to live with her grandmother.  I never really understood the severity of her errors that would cause her parents to throw her out and its sort of skimmed over and we're just supposed to accept it without really any thorough explanation.  That sort of rubbed me wrong but I let it slide to just get into the story.

Cameron and Hayley resist more than friendship but then attraction is there just pulling them together. Things heat up and then a secret is discovered that has Cameron running from Hayley.  They try again and then things happen with Cameron's family and he pushes her away AGAIN! Then they try again and guess what, after he lets her go so many times, she TAKES HIM BACK and SHE says SHE's SORRY. I was completely confused over what SHE should be sorry about.  HE treats her like crap, pushes her away, and then grovels which results in her apologizing. I didn't understand that at all. I felt he should have been the one apologizing.

Then there's the diner scene with Kyle, Kimber, Rachel, Noah, and Hannah.  This is where the Two BIG BOMBS are dropped, but then it just putters out. I was like, "Wha...What?! All of the secrets and answers have been exposed and the only consequences are a few choice words, one low life douche bag walking away a free man with no worries, and a punch in the face. That's it?"

Despite these issues, I did enjoy reading about Hayley's journey, her growth from 17 years old into her 19th year, the challenges she faced head on and very well if I do say so myself, her relationship with Arianna, and her heart of gold.  I also enjoyed Cameron's sexy self, his ability to overcome his demons through Hayley, and his growth from douche to honorable man.  The supporting characters provided the story with humor, the middle men when Hayley and Cameron are on the outs, and just great support for the main characters.

This is a very sweet story and you will come away with some great moments but you will also have to deal with some plot holes that will having you saying, "This could have been a GREAT book had some of the points of the story been expanded upon, explained, and given the weight of importance that they deserved." I understand that this is a story about Hayley and Cameron healing from their past through their present relationship with each other, but all of the history and events that brought them to where they are are just as important and it just would have made this story amazing had those events been given their much needed time.

I will read another book by Tamsyn Bester because I did enjoy the story despite some plot holes. She is a really good writer and will pull you into the story and characters. Thank you for your time and commitment to this story Tamsyn Bester. I know writing a book is not easy and I have yet to take on that challenge and you have done a great job creating a wonderful story with just a little polishing needed. XOXO

Favorite Quotes:

"I couldn't pretend that my life hadn't changed. But I also couldn't bring myself to regret the irrevocable consequences that forever changed me. I learned the true meaning of selflessness and what it meant to love someone so much you'd give up everything for them. I finally understood what it meant to sacrifice your own heart, just to allow another to beat."

"If I didn't know any better I'd think she was a normal old lady, but underneath that façade is a whole lot of batshit crazy."

"'Hey little man. You enjoy your breakfast?' I smile at him and he nods, burrowing his head into my neck. I've become used to his little displays of affection and I'll come to miss them when he leaves. Something about the way he hugs, or even touches, is so innocent and sincere. It's a reminder of what we are, before life happens and takes it from us."

"'And now that I know we'll be best friends, I'm going to buy you a Latte and tell you all my inappropriate secrets, and what turns me on.'"

"'Holy Chees on a cracker,' Taylor sighs. 'That man is fifty shades of sexy!' 'I know right!' Hanna chips in. 'Did you see the buns of steel on his derriere?'"

"Does he expect me to read his mind? Because that's worse than trying to get a dog to meow."

"'Are you fucking kidding me? I hear about yours almost every night. It's a good thing mom and dad aren't at home that often, otherwise they'd think you've turned our house into a brothel. And for the love of my ear drums, stop screwing girls who scream like banshees or at least stuff a sock in their mouths. I can't handle the sound of cats being strangled any longer."

"By the time I get home, my hands, face and feet are numb but it doesn't matter much. Because the one part of my body that I need to be numb, even if just for a little while, still pumps furiously behind my rib cage. I didn't realize that it was possible for a heart to keep beating while in pieces."
