Review: Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan

Synopsis:

When Bree Prescott arrives in the sleepy, lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, she hopes against hope that this is the place where she will finally find the peace she so desperately seeks. On her first day there, her life collides with Archer Hale, an isolated man who holds a secret agony of his own. A man no one else sees.

Archer's Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom. It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice. It is the story of suffering, fate, and the transformative power of love.

THIS IS A STAND-ALONE NOVEL. The first three books in the series need not be read to enjoy this book. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Nicky's Review

5 Stars!!!!!

Characters- I LOVED them!!! Bree is so sweet and strong in her own way. Archer... Oh Archer. I fell in love with his broken soul and his innocence. Just a beautiful man all around.
Plot/Storyline- The plot was just amazing with great flow and a great concept. I love the underdog aspect of this story and how Bree needed Archer as much, if not more, than Archer needed her. Just a fantastic story.
Steam Factor- HOT HOT HOT!!! I can't go into detail but I will say that Archer Hale is amazing, just amazing.
Cover- I love it!! I love how his face is a mystery so it's up to the reader to create him and I love how the beach is included. Perfect, just like the words inside the book.
Cliffhanger- No. This book is their story from beginning to end. Swoon...
Overall- Words can't explain how much I loved this book. Archer is a wonderful mix of rugged, gentle, stoic, moody, sweet, body of a god kind of man. He's everything you could wish for and more. If you could fall in love with a fictional character, I believe this is as close as you can get because I just loved him and his story. READ IT NOW is all I have to say :)

Mia, I have to admit, this is the first book of yours that I have ever read and let me tell you girl, if this is just a preview of your writing brilliance then you have a fan in me for LIFE!! Just WOW!!

This is the story of Bree and Archer and how they become the glue for each other's broken souls.  Both characters struggle with living a normal life due to past traumas, although they both deal with their issues differently.

Bree runs away from her problems and takes up "temporary" residence in a small town quite a distance from her hometown, while Archer runs away from his issues by hiding away in his small town like a recluse. But they are both running away instead of dealing with their issues.

Bree and Archer have a quick, yet awkward, run-in with each other one night and from that moment on both of their worlds are forever changed. The town leper intrigues Bree and Bree's kindness intrigues Archer.  A friendship blooms in uncomfortable silence in the beginning but we as a reader get to experience their blooming relationship, their secrets and their road to happiness.

This story is so beautifully written and just stays with you for days after.  Thank you Mia Sheridan for spinning this beautiful tale that I will definitely revisit in the future. I HIGHLY recommend this feel good story that offers a great balance of sweetness, heartache, steaminess and happiness.  This book has it all. BRAVO a thousand times over Mia!! Thank you!! XOXO

Favorite Quotes:

“I'm afraid to love you. I'm afraid that you'll leave and that I'll go back to being alone again. Only it will be a hundred times worse because I'll know what I'm missing. I can't…” He sucked in a shaky breath. “I want to be able to love you more than I fear losing you, and I don't know how. Teach me, Bree. Please teach me. Don't let me destroy this.”

“I lost my heart to you. And, Bree, in case you're wondering, I don't ever want it back.”

“I knew I loved her – fiercely and with every part of my heart, even the broken parts, even the parts that felt unworthy and without value. And maybe those parts most of all.”

“This is that burden I was talking about, Bree. This is what the burden of loving me looks like.”“Loving you isn't a burden. Loving you is an honor and a joy, Archer.”

"Bad things don't happen to people because they deserve for them to happen. It just doesn't work that way. It's just... life. And no matter who we are, we have to take the hand we're dealt, crappy though it may be, and try our very best to move forward anyway, to love anyway, to have hope anyway... to have faith that there's a purpose to the journey we're on." [...] "And try to believe that maybe more light shines out of those who have the most cracks."

Review: Gabriel's Rapture by Sylvain Reynard

Synopsis:

Professor Gabriel Emerson has embarked on a passionate, yet clandestine affair with his former student, Julia Mitchell. Sequestered on a romantic holiday in Italy, he tutors her in the sensual delights of the body and the raptures of sex. But when they return, their happiness is threatened by conspiring students, academic politics, and a jealous ex-lover. When Gabriel is confronted by the university administration, will he succumb to Dante's fate? Or will he fight to keep Julia, his Beatrice, forever? In Gabriel's Rapture, the brilliant sequel to the wildly successful debut novel, Gabriel's Inferno, Sylvain Reynard weaves an exquisite love story that will touch the reader's mind, body, and soul, forever.

Nicky's Review

4 Stars

Characters- Even more in love with Gabriel and a bit more frustrated with Julianne.
Plot/Storyline- This is the continuation of their story and it picks right up where the first book left off. The story flowed just a perfectly as the first.
Steam Factor- Gabriel still has it :)
Cover- Consistent with the first and still perfect.
Cliffhanger- Ended nicely and could satisfy you if you didn't want to continue their story.
Overall- I really enjoyed this book and the continuation of Gabriel and Julianne's story. There were still bumps in the road but it leaves you with a feeling that love conquers all.

I love how this book picks right up from the first. The scene is the same and we can just keep on going.  This story is the next step in their relationship, but it's not without bumps.

The issues that they face are believable and I really did enjoy the way Gabriel and Julianne grow as characters but Julianne still gets to me with her insecurities.

This entire book is Gabriel proving his love to Julianne with is mind, body, heart and soul over and over again. Even I began to fall in love with him. He is no longer this greedy, cold man. He's becoming better and more lovable.  This is where my issue comes in with Julianne.

She's so insecure when it comes to his past despite the fact that she was aware of his past and supposedly accepted that it was in the past and he can't change it and that she is his future. She's good with this but then she is constantly throwing his past in his face when she gets insecure. I mean, if you're going to date someone that you KNOW had a VERY sexual past and you decided to love him in spite of that, you can't keep hurting him with this knowledge. And finally, when a HUGE decision is made by Gabriel and he disappears, Julianne just gives up and thinks Gabriel has LEFT her. Seriously WOMAN!! Have you not been hearing everything he has been telling you and showing you?????  Even I knew that this over the top smitten guy wasn't saying good-bye. I just wanted to throw my iPad at that point.

It was just frustrating because I felt that the way Sylvain wrote Julianne and Gabriel's characters and their feelings for each other, Julianne's reaction was unwarranted and unbelievable. It felt like it was written just to add drama and a turning point because the way she reacted was not the way Julianne's character was written to react. Her character's consistency would have had Julianne trusting that Gabriel didn't leave her and had her searching for answers as to why he had to leave, not why he said goodbye. But I guess that wouldn't have created any sort of obstacle to overcome if she stayed the girl who had no doubt as to how much Gabriel worshiped her.

Over all, I really did enjoy this book and the continuation of their story. It was the next step in their relationship and I was very pleased with the outcome and the growth of their relationship, despite Julianne's inconsistency in character when it comes to her relationship with Gabriel.  I can't wait to read the next book because I just know that it will be the final step in their relationship and I am so excited to experience it with them. Thank you Sylvain Reynard for continuing their story. I look forward to more Gabriel and Julianne. XOXO

Favorite Quotes:

“It isn't God who's evil-it's us.......Everyone wants to know where evil comes from and why the world is riddle with it. Why doesn't anyone ask where goodness comes from? Human beings have a tremendous capacity for cruelty. Why is there any goodness at all? Why are people like Grace and Richard so kind? Because there's a God, and he hasn't allowed the earth to be entirely corrupted. There are sticky like leaves, if you look for them. And when you recognize them, you can feel his presence.”

“She is not my equal; she is my better. She is my sticky little leaf.”

“I love you far too much, I'm sure. But I don't know how to love you any other way.”

“If they love one another to the exclusion of everything and everyone else, then their love is pagan. They’ve made idols of one another and their love. And they’re also very foolish, because no human being can ever make another human being completely happy. Human beings are far too imperfect for that.”

“The universe isn’t based on magic—there isn’t one set of circumstances for the good and one for the evil. Everyone suffers sometime. The question is what you do with your suffering, right?”

"The only tragedy would be losing you. He said, kissing her lightly. "You'll only lose me if you stop loving me." "I'm a lucky man then. I'll be able to keep you forever."

"I love you. Madly." Something about the way her voice sounded in his ear made his heart quicken. "I love you too. I love you far too much, I'm sure. But I don't know how to love you any other way."

Review: Gabriel's Inferno by Sylvain Reynard

Synopsis:

Enigmatic and sexy, Professor Gabriel Emerson is a well respected Dante specialist by day, but by night he devotes himself to an uninhibited life of pleasure. He uses his notorious good looks and sophisticated charm to gratify his every whim, but is secretly tortured by his dark past and consumed by the profound belief that he is beyond all hope of redemption.

When the sweet and innocent Julia Mitchell enrolls as his graduate student, his attraction and mysterious connection to her not only jeopardizes his career, but sends him on a journey in which his past and his present collide.

An intriguing and sinful exploration of seduction, forbidden love and redemption, "Gabriel's Inferno" is a captivating and wildly passionate tale of one man's escape from his own personal hell as he tries to earn the impossible...forgiveness and love.

Nicky's Review

4 Stars

Characters- I loved Gabriel, despite his asshat ways at times. I also really enjoyed Julianne too, despite her constant need to cry.
Plot/Storyline- This story was very well done and flowed effortlessly. I love how Gabriel and Julia came full circle. Just beautiful.
Steam Factor- STEAMY!!!! Gabriel is a Sex God who puts his woman's needs first. Yes Please!!!
Cover- Perfectly Beautiful.
Cliffhanger- Somewhat, but not really. You feel that the story can grow from there, but it ended nicely. Definitely interested in reading the next book to see the next chapter of their story :)
Overall- I really enjoyed this story. It was a bit over my head at times with it's constant historical literary references but the story of Julianne and Gabriel was worth all of the Googling I had to tire myself with just to make sense of some of the references.

This is the story of Gabriel, a highly educated and rich professor, and his student, Julianne.  This sounds like your typical teacher/student romance, but it's not.  There is a history between these two complicated characters and the progress of their relationship was fun to watch, but there were some aspects that sort of drove me nuts.

I didn't really enjoy all of the written foreign language, be it Latin or Italian, for I felt it was a bit of a filler in the story. There was a speech that Gabriel gives and it states that he spoke Italian but it was written for the reader in English, to which I felt the Italian and Latin written wording could have been done the same way to save page space and my time. But I am not a follower of historical literature so the written foreign language in the story didn't add anything for me, just extra time skimming over it since I had no idea what it said anyway; unless it was translated as it sometimes was.

To add to the confusion, there were constant Literary Character references that kept me having to stop reading in order to Google the characters and their story in order to understand what the author was trying to convey about Gabriel and Julianne's relationship. Such references were couples such as Beatrice & Dante, Cupid & Phyche, Heloise & Abelard and many more. Yeah, I didn't know Cupid had a love interest, but there you have it. I felt a bit uneducated and at times stupid since I didn't know any of these references.  It made the reading a bit laborious and prevented me from fully immersing myself in the story since I'd have to stop and Google references at times.

My last complaint was Julianne's insistence on keeping her identity a secret. It was so frustrating since the circumstances that caused Gabriel's confusion and poor memory just made sense and for Julianne to keep dragging out her and his misery was just frustrating.  I wanted to just yell at her and tell her, "Tell him who you are and what he should remember you stupid, stupid girl!! Stop playing memory games with him!!" But that's just me.

Please don't think I didn't enjoy this book because I did. I really did. Once I got past the above issues I really enjoyed this well written and intellectually intriguing story about two lost souls who are living in hell until they find their soul mates again. Sort of a second chance love story with a twist.  And despite my dislike for the added literary references, I will say that I have come away from this story with more historical literary knowledge than I would have ever found in another love story. I didn't just walk away from this story with a happy feeling from a love story, I also came away with a bit of an education and that was really neat.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone interested in reading about a Broken, Haunted, Hot as Hell Alpha male who finds a sweet girl who heals him with her innocence, love, understanding and selflessness.  This is a well written story that will stay with me for a long time. Well done Sylvain Reynard! Well done! XOXO

Favorite Quotes:

“Why not think that sometimes—just sometimes—you can overcome evil with silence? And let people hear their hatefulness in their own ears, without distraction. Maybe goodness is enough to expose evil for what it really is, sometimes.”

“Look at me. Look into my eyes." His eyes fixed on hers as they fluttered open."I'll give you anything. My body, my soul, Take them. Take everything.”

“When I am an old man and I can remember nothing else, I will remember this moment. The first time my eyes beheld an angel in the flesh. “I will remember your body and your eyes, your beautiful face and breasts, your curves and this.” He traced his hand around her navel before dragging it lightly to the top of her lower curls. “I will remember your scent and your touch and how it felt to love you. But most of all, I will remember how it felt to gaze at true beauty, both inside and out. For you are fair, my beloved, in soul and in body, generous of spirit and generous of heart. And I will never see anything this side of heaven more beautiful than you.”

“When I told you that I was intending to worship you with my body, I meant it. With all my heart. I will never take from you. I will only give. In my bed and outside of it.”

“Ever had a beer before?" Gabriel grinned.
She shook her head.
"Then I'm glad I'm your first."
...
"Have you ever held a boy's hand before?" She shook her head, and he laughed softly. "Then I'm glad I'm your first."
...
"Have you ever been kissed by a boy?"
She blushed deeply and shook her head.
"Then I'm glad I'm your first."
...
"Have you ever fallen asleep in the arms of a boy before, Beatrice?"
She shook her head.
"Then I'm glad I'm your first."
...
"I haven't really danced like this before," she said wistfully.
"Then I'm glad I'm your first."
...
"Has a man ever asked you to marry him before?"
She shook her head, covering her mouth with her hand.
"Then I'm glad I'm your first.”

“Then you haven't lost your soul. Only a creature with a soul can tell the difference between right and wrong. Yes, you've made mistakes, but you feel guilt. You feel remorse. And if you still have your soul, you haven't lost your chance at redemption.”

“All believers are hypocrites because none of us live up to our beliefs.”

“Julia never asked herself why bad things happen to good people, for she already knew the answer: bad things happen t everyone. Not that this was an excuse or a justification for wronging another human being. Still, all humans had this shared experience- that of suffering. No human being left this world without shedding a tear,of feeling pain,or wading into the sea of sorrow. Why should her life be any different? Why should she expect special, favoured treatment? Even Mother Teresa suffered, and she was a saint.”

~Excerpt~

“Tell me again why we’ve done our last four beach trips here?” I said. “I mean, we know everyone in this goddamn town. Isn’t the point of a trip to get away? So we don’t have to see people?”

“Bailey, tone down the bitchiness, okay?” Erica ordered. She dug around the inside of her purse for her cell phone. “And you know why. Noah, God love him, is a moron with our kids. I’ve gotta stay close until they get older.”

I snorted, then took off towards another club.

“Bailey!” Erica called, running after me.

“I’m not ready to go back to the hotel,” I said, shrugging off her arm.

“That’s fine. We can hang out, but if you go dark on me . . .”

“Nobody’s going dark, okay? I just wanna get my dance on,” I replied.

I spent the rest of the evening getting wasted and looking like a total slut on the dance floor. My goal was to erase two recent painful memories: shaking my ass for Reece and seeing my ex-fiancé on a booty date.

When Erica and I emerged from the club at 2:30 A.M., a taxi van was waiting. A group of young men (one carrying a case of beer) cut in front of us and threw open the van door.

“Oh, well,” Erica said. “Let’s find another.”

The boy toting the beer spotted us. “Oh, my bad. You wanted this taxi?”

“It’s cool,” Erica replied. “You guys take it. We’ll wait for another.”

“Well, I’ve got a better idea. Why don’t you come with us? We’re going to a film screening.”

The others nodded, shuffling around the sidewalk.

A film screening at 2:30 in the morning? Please. I shook my head. “Thanks, but we’re tired. We’re gonna go home.”

“Nah! Come with us. It’s gonna be a fun time,” Beer Boy pleaded.

“No no,” I replied. “You all go have a good time.”

He turned to his friend and muttered, “Fucking bitch.” A few of the boys snickered.

Excuse me?

And then something in my brain snapped. I watched that little college punk stand there, avoiding my face, gripping his bush-league beer while the taxi driver yelled at his punk ass posse to make a decision.

“Hey, son!” I called in his direction. “There’s no need for that. No need for that kind of language.”

He hung his head—literally hung his head—while I chastised him.

“Bailey, let’s go.” Erica tugged on my arm.

“Now, I’m sorry we turned you down, and I’m sorry if that embarrassed you, but maybe we don’t feel like ‘screening’ the bullshit home movie you shot for film class on your bullshit, cheap ass camcorder.”

“Oh my God,” Erica said.

“We got to this cab first. Then you and your dipshit friends come barreling down the sidewalk and steal it. What you need to be saying to me is ‘I’m sorry’. And then you need to go brush up on the manners you clearly left at home when you came to college. Ain’t nobody gonna wanna fuck a little asshole like you if you can’t be classy,” I said.

“Bailey!” Erica hauled me along.

“Punk ass motherfucker!” I yelled over my shoulder. He flipped me off. I fought Erica as hard as I could. “Let me at him. One minute with that little shit! Just one!”

“Bailey Mitchell!” Erica screamed in my face. “He’s a doofus! All right?! Calm. Down.”

Entice Teaser Not Her Daddy
~Excerpt~

Sighing, I wrap a towel around my waist and open the door, ready to try and be at least a level of cordial I know is only right. “Listen, can I-“ “She’s gone.” I look up, startled by Laney’s voice and shocked to see her sitting on my bed. Thank God I put on a towel. “Where’d she go?” “Home I guess,” she shrugs, “I didn’t ask. I heard the front door slam and got up to see what the hell. Since you’re here and she’s not, I’m assuming it was her.” How did I not hear the door slam? Not that I would have chased her. “Alright, she left. But what’re you doing in here?” She stands, grabbing some shorts off my floor and throwing them at me. “Go put those on and we’ll talk. Since I’m up,” she shoots me an evil glare. I head back in the bathroom to change, and stay in there, locking the door. I am over six feet tall and lift almost every day, and yes, I’m scared to face Laney. Not only is she a hellcat when she wants to be, but I don’t want to see the disgust or disappointment in her eyes. She’s one of my best friends, even more so after becoming roommates, and her opinion means a lot to me. “Get out here,” she yells when she finally realizes I must be stalling. “Take it like a man.” Well, I might as well go out or she’ll undoubtedly come in here, kicking in the door or taking if off the hinges in what I have no doubt would take her less than five minutes. I open it and she pats the bed beside her. “Come sit down. We’re doing this now.” I hesitantly take a seat beside her, my knee bouncing as I wait for her to speak. “First, and of the upmost importance, you know I call my father ‘daddy.’ So hearing your visitors scream it repeatedly in the middle of the night freaks me out. I wake up thinking I’m in some bad Lifetime movie.” Fighting my smirk I agree. "Okay, got it." "Second," she stands and tucks a pillow between my headboard and the wall, "leave that there." She once again sits down beside me. "School and game nights, booty call curfew is eleven. That work for you?" "Yeah," I sigh and run my hands along my head, wishing I had some hair to pull. "It won't happen again Gidge, I'm sorry." She places a hand on my shoulder with a small smile. "Don't be sorry, this is your house too and we hadn't talked about it. Now we have, so we're all good. Any rules you want to put in place?" "Nah, I'm easy." "Made crystal clear by the parade of women coming in and out of here." She laughs and scoots away quickly, ducking the pillow I grab and swing at her head. “Speaking of which, been busier than usual lately. You trying for Guiness or Gonorrhea?" Here we go - what she really wants to talk about.

Interview: Interview with a Master author: JASON LUKE

Do you have another profession other than being an author?

Not anymore.

I started writing in September 2013. I always worked in retail before that working 12 hours a day 6 days a week.

What types of books do you like to read and/or do you have a favorite author?

I like to read the same books that I know I love over and over. I tend to read Historical and Action books. Two authors I enjoy are Lee Child and Bernard Cornwell.

How did you go from Zombies to Erotica?

I wrote those 2 zombie books and it was agony, it was murder writing them. They were a real struggle. It came about because I read so many action adventure books that I thought that if I wrote action adventure books with zombies it would be something I liked doing and the zombie aspect would help me stand out. But it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I thought to myself, "Writing SUCKS," and I was going to go back to retail. But then I decided to start writing what I knew, what happened to me and the story just came out of me.

How would you describe Interview with a Master to someone?

I would call it a simple story about a man who is trying to find himself through telling some of the events that have happened in his life. I don’t think he really understands himself yet and as he retells his story he’s sort of on a path of self discovery.

Were the characters in your book inspired by real people?

Yes. There’s a lot of me in Jonah Noble. A lot of the stuff Jonah Noble says I believe.
Laticia was based on a journalist I knew a long time ago. The beauty of this story was that I knew these people really well. The hardest parts of the book as far as the writing process goes was writing the fiction. Inventing some of the text was much more difficult than recalling actual events.

Are any of the BDSM scenes that Jonah retells from your personal experience?

Yes, but I’m not going to tell you which ones. I would never go into detail so I can leave it up to the readers to figure out or speculate what's fact and what's fiction.

Is there going to be a book 2?

When I wrote this book I truly believed it was a one standalone book about a raw man’s story with no perfect ending wrapped up with a pretty bow. If I wrote a second book it would be a love story. If the love story makes it into a second book and the readers want more then I’d certainly consider writing it but I have no plan to write a second book as of yet. It’ll really depend on the response to this book.

Are your pen names significant? I know your Zombie novels were written under Nicholas Ryan and now this one is written under Jason Luke.  Are any of these names your real name?

No significance, they are just Pen names.

We know Jonah was 19 when he entered the BDSM lifestyle, does this reflect a truth in your life?

What do you want your readers to take away from this book?

I want people to read the book and be entertained. If people read the book and it answers some questions or it gives them a different way to look at things that’s great. The intention is really to entertain, but everything else that is taken away is just icing on the cake. I don’t go into deep description of the characters because I want the readers to have their own versions of Jonah and Leticia.

Do you have anything specific you’d like to say to your readers?

I have been so overwhelmed by the response I have had from this book so far. Everyone who downloads or purchases a hard copy of this book, I hope you enjoy the story. I am grateful that you have considered the book and hope it entertains you. Just thank you so very much. I owe my livelihood as a writer to you.

~The End~

And that is the very sweet and very gracious Jason Luke. He was super sweet and called ME from Australia for this interview. Talk about an author who is humble and is willing to reach out to his readers. Thank you so much Jason Luke for the interview, the book and your time. Hoping for a second book! Hehe! XOXO

Review: Until You (Fall Away 1.5) by Penelope Douglas

Synopsis

***This novel contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+.

Have you ever been so angry that hitting things felt good? Or so numb that you actually felt high? The past few years have been like that for me. Traveling between fury and indifference with no stops in between.

Some people hate me for it, while others are scared of me. But none of them can hurt me, because I don't care about anything or anyone.

Except Tatum.

I love her so much that I hate her. We used to be friends, but I found out that I couldn't trust her or anyone else.

So I hurt her. I pushed her away.

But I still need her. The sight of her centers me, and I can pool all of my anger into her. Engaging her, challenging her, bullying her...they are my food, my air, and the last part of me that feels anything human.

But she left. She went to France for a year, and came back a different girl.

Now, when I push, she pushes back.

***To be read AFTER Bully (Fall Away Series) BOOK 1.

4 Stars

Characters- Hated and LOVED Jared. Still loved Tate. She rocks!
Plot/Storyline- Oh my goodness!! This was a GREAT alternate POV! I did not feel at all like I was reading the same book over again. This was completely Jared's story and it was AMAZEBALLS!!
Steam Factor- HOLY FREAKING HOT!! Jared's POV of the sex was VERY STEAMY and SEXY!
Cover- Ummmm.... Wiping drool from lip and kindle screen. YUMMY!! Loving the tattoo too :)
Cliffhanger- NO, this is their story but there is definitely room for more, which the lovely Penelope Douglas promised in the upcoming books :) Happy Dance!!!!
Overall- I freaking LOVED this book. Penelope did a PHENOMENAL JOB at writing an alternate POV that was very different from the book it was based on but still kept the same story if that makes sense. It was perfectly executed and brilliant!! I TOTALLY RECOMMEND this book to anyone who has read BULLY!! FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!

Wow! This book was a perfect companion book to Bully. We finally get to read Jared's story and understand this very complex character.  I found myself pissed at Jared a lot of times because he WAS as much as an asshole as I thought he was in Bully.  But as we read his story, it all sort of makes sense in a twisted way as to why he treats/treated Tatum the way he did.

I think the best description as to his reasons for treating Tate the way he did was the story of his teddy bear at the end of the story. It kind of gave me that AH-HA! moment I needed because, honestly, I was still like, "What the hell is wrong with him?! I understand he focused his hate on Tate but why the hell would he do that to someone who only ever showed him love?"  His reasons are explained throughout the book and I could see some parts of it making sense, not justifiable, but it made sense from his POV.  The teddy bear story pulled it all together for me and just made me love Jared more.

All in all, I really really enjoyed this book and I appreciate Penelope's extreme efforts and success with writing a perfect alternate POV that didn't feel like reading the same story again. BRAVO Penelope because I know that was a difficult feat, but you accomplished it girl and I have the utmost respect for you. FANTASTIC Alternate POV novel. I F'LOVED it so much!! Thank you and I will definitely read anything you put out into the reading world. Penelope Douglas ROCKS!! XOXO

Favorite Quotes:

“Girlfriend isn’t enough to describe you, Tate. That term is disposable. You’re not my girlfriend, my girl, or my woman. You’re. Just. Mine,” I bit out every syllable, so she would fucking understand. “And I’m yours,” I added, a little calmer.”

“Now, I could go on about mommy didn’t love me and daddy hit me, but who doesn’t have a story, right?” I asked. “There are times when we can blame a situation on others, but we own our reactions to them. There comes a point where we are the ones responsible for our choices and excuses don’t carry weight anymore.”

“I love you more than myself,” I told her, “more than my own family, for Christ’s sake. I don’t want to take another step in this world without you next to me.”

“You have every right not to trust me, Tate. I know that. My fucking heart is ripping open right now. I can’t stand the way you’re looking at me. I could never hurt you again. Please…let’s try to fix this together.”

“You were my tempest, my thunder cloud, my tree in the downpour. I loved all of those things, and I loved you. But now…you’re a fucking drought. I thought that all the assholes drove German cars, but it turns out that pricks in Mustangs can still leave scars.”

“There were two kinds of stupid. Stupid people that got drunk and humped trees, and stupid people that just humped trees.”

“She stared at me, almost amused. “You’ve already made me cry countless times.” And she raised her middle finger to me. “Do you know what this is?” she asked as she took it and patted the corner of her eye with it. “It’s me, wiping away the last tear you’ll ever get.”

“My heart only beat for her, and I’d rather spend my life hating, loving, fucking, and breathing her than losing her.”

Brittany's Review

4.5 Stars

Characters- The characters fit perfectly with the storyline especially the band members. I love Chloe and Drake together!
Plot/Storyline- This is the 3rd book in the Torn series and it's broken down into 3 parts. I understand why K.A. did that I thought it was something different. The plot follows Chloe and Drake where book 2 Twisted leaves off and also the few months before and after that.
Steam Factor- HOT!!!! Drake is scrumptious ;)
Cover- I think my mouth fell open when I saw the cover. YUMMY! Definetely reminds me of Drake except for the hair.
Cliffhanger- NOPE! This is the beautiful end to their journey.
Overall- I am so happy that their was a third book to Chloe and Drake's story. This book really ties up all the loose ends from Twisted. I'll say it again, how much I loved the breakdown of time and parts in this book. I felt that I had better closure with each part as I read it and could officially move on with their story.

Reading the first part of the book was difficult only because Drake is on such a low. I felt so bad for him but then I was SO angry with him too. My heart ached for Chloe because she had a to make such a hard decision knowing how much she loved Drake. Everything just goes downhill after Chloe makes her decision and it gets pretty dark and depressing. Drake and the band Breaking the Hunger get an offer they can't refuse with a record label in LA. Even though Drake is trying to "self medicate" he wants to make his and the bands dream come true and win Chloe back.

Time flies in LA and the band is on fire with recording songs for their new record until it all comes crashing down due to Drake being out of control. Thankfully, Drake gets the reality check he needs an finds help in more ways than one. I loved getting to this part because finally the REAL Drake was back. The sexy, confident, smart ass was back and I knew he was determined to get Chloe back too. The reunion for Chloe and Drake was so cute and sweet! I loved how mad Amber was for Chloe!!

Part Two takes over 3 months later and Chloe has decided to move with Drake and go on tour with the band in LA. Drake knows he has to regain Chloe's trust and prove to her that he is a changed man.    During the long drive to LA, Chloe and Drake get to rekindle everything they lost over the past several months. It was very touching and beautiful. They both had to face a lot of demons in their past and we really get to learn a lot about Drake and his parents. They also are trying to take things slow in their relationship HAHA! So you feel all the sexual tension between them but don't worry, K.A delivers in that department and it's so incredibly HOT!

In the end, Chloe and Drake finally settle into their life in LA and they do hit a few bumps in the road especially with Drake and the band trying to make it big. Chloe is trying to adjust to the fame and Drake just wants Chloe to be happy. Their is a little bit of drama thrown in especially with Drake's manager Brad but Drake is not afraid to put him in his place. The ending is so sweet and not what I expected but I'm so glad that it did happen that way ;)

Part 3 was short but beautiful! It was the perfect ending to their story and I'm glad it was 7 years later so they actually had time to enjoy each other. I'm sad this is the end of their journey but I will always have a special place in my heart for Chloe and Drake. Thanks K.A. Robinson for this awesome trilogy and for keep us wanting more! XOXO

Favorite Quotes:

"There are things that people try to forget. It's not that they don't want you to know, it's just the simple fact that they don't like to think about it."

"He had every part of me-my heart, my soul, and my body. So yes, I was always vulnerable when it came to him. I tried to calm my racing heart as he started kissing me again."

"Life was always so fucking hard, and I'd refused to deal with it. I always found a way to make me forget-drugs, women and finally Chloe. I didn't accept anything. I evaded."

"He ran his tongue between my breasts and then slowly down my stomach to where my sleep shorts were sitting low on my hips. He used his teeth to slowly pull them down, and I lifted my hips to help him. When they were gone he pulled off my underwear next. I felt the impulse to cover myself, but I didn't. I loved him and I wouldn't let my shyness get in the way of our healing or the awesome sex that was about to happen."

Review: Interview with a Master by Jason Luke

Synopsis:

It's the interview like no other.
It's the interview of a lifetime.
It's THE Interview with a Master.
When Jonah Noble reveals details of his life within the world of BDSM, the tale he tells is intensely erotic, profoundly sensual, and brutally honest.
This is His world. His way.
There is only one question the man will not answer…

(BDSM erotica from a man's POV, written by a man).

Nicky's Review

4 Stars

Characters-  I really liked Jonah and his extreme Dom personality. Leticia was also enjoyable. She was a pretty strong character despite Jonah's strong personality.
Plot/Storyline- This was a very unique story. It's an interview of a BDSM Master so it's a story within a story. Very interesting and I liked the Q&A aspect of it.
Steam Factor- Holy Hells Bells! The things Jonah describes are so hot and sometimes uncomfortably arousing, if that makes sense.
Cover- Perfect depiction of Jonah and his constant need to put his hands in his pockets and pace while retelling his story.
Cliffhanger- Yes I think. I really HOPE there is a second book because this girl wants MORE!!
Overall- I really enjoyed this unique story of the BDSM world. The interview manner in which the story is told kept me sort of an outsider just as Leticia was but I also enjoyed the story in between the story; the unspoken sexual tension between the interviewer and the interviewee. HOT!

So we first meet Jonah Noble during Leticia's initial interview with him for an article in the paper she's interning for. They meet throughout the book for this interview and we learn more and more about Jonah Noble. He is a very well known bachelor with a secret life that he is finally going to share with the world. He's rich, sexy and has every alpha male characteristic you'd expect from a Dom.  Leticia is hoping that this story will move her from intern status to full on journalist for the paper.

The interview questions, as you can imagine for this topic, are very personal and very sexual. Jonah's retelling of his BDSM experiences is super sexy and super intriguing.  One thing I really liked about the interview process was Jonah's requirement of Leticia to share her secrets too. He called it, 'Do ut des,' which is a Latin term that means 'I give that you may give.' So really tit for tat. He answers her questions and she has to answer his. This allowed us as readers to get to know both characters. It also creates an open environment that bares them to each other.  Nothing is off limits in this questioning, which as a reader is very exciting and sometimes uncomfortable. But a good uncomfortable.  I was actually a bit jealous of their honesty.

It was a fun read and I really enjoyed such a unique story. The fact that it was written by a man who had his own experiences in the BDSM world made me even more interested in reading this story because I feel that we may be getting a better glimpse into the lifestyle, which is exciting for this vanilla girl. Hehe!

This story is very well written too, it's not just smut (although I do not object to the smuttery at all- wink). The scenes are described so well that you can see the rooms in which the characters are in and you can picture what the characters are doing during the entire conversation. When they are nervous or turned on, you know it. You are pulled into the room like a fly on the wall and I really appreciated Jason's eye for detail. This was a very well written book and I will definitely look forward to more from Jason Luke. Great job!!

Favorite Quotes:

"Every woman who is aroused by submission is also aroused by an alpha male who can tame them."

"Women don't want to be forced to their knees. They want to be made to feel weak in the knees. Husbands and lovers need to make the woman in their life feel conquered."

"You see, women need to feel loved in order to want sex. And men need sex, in order to feel loved."

"'Anticipation is expectation,' I said. 'It's the mystery of not knowing, and the heightening of all a woman's senses. Anticipation draws out the moment so that the moment then becomes exquisite.' I explained. 'And it is only something as powerful as anticipation that can elevate an ordinary touch to a breathtaking caress.'"

"I went to the kitchen, found a glass in a cupboard and filled it with tap water. As a rule I never drank the stuff. Fish have sex in water... think about that..."

"'Every man should make the effort occasionally to throw the rule book out,' I said. 'It doesn't matter if the relationship is BDSM or vanilla- every man should go out of his way to make the woman in his world feel desired and wanted. It's worth the effort and planning to occasionally appear spontaneous.'"
